Jeremy Rockliff, Premier

Tasmania has secured record funding under the National Health Reform Agreement, delivering a fantastic outcome for the health of Tasmanians and our public hospitals.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff said this agreement includes a small state adjustment, delivering an additional $700 million to Tasmania’s public hospitals over the next five years.

“This means more funding will flow into Tasmanian hospitals, ensuring our Government can continue to build a strong and sustainable health system into the future," Premier Rockliff said.

"We have successfully advocated for a small state adjustment to recognise the diseconomies of scale and unavoidable costs associated with being a smaller state, which was a significant challenge recognised by the Federal Government.

"This agreement provides long-term funding certainty and ensures we can continue investing in frontline services, supporting our health workforce, and delivering better health outcomes for Tasmanians.

"Today’s agreement is a positive step forward and demonstrates what can be achieved when governments work together in the national interest."

As the chair of the Council for the Australian Federation, Premier Rockliff has been instrumental in negotiations between First Ministers and the Prime Minister.

Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Bridget Archer, thanked Premier Rockliff for relentlessly pursuing increased funding for our public health system.

"This outcome, delivered by Premier Rockliff, will support Tasmanians across the state to access health care in our hospitals," Minister Archer said.

"The Premier has secured additional funding for our hospitals, enabling us to invest in the services Tasmanians need."
