Tasmania hosts 2026 Australian Transplant Games

Tasmania is hosting the 2026 Australian Transplant Games in Launceston this year.

The Transplant Games are held every two years, bringing together transplant recipients and their families, living donors, donor families and the clinical sector from across Australia.

Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events, Roger Jaensch, said the Tasmanian Government’s investment has brought this event to our State for the first time.

“This is the first time we have hosted the Australian Transplant Games,” Minister Jaensch said.

“Athletes from every Australian state and territory will participate, alongside international competitors from New Zealand, Thailand and Nauru.”

The Tasmanian Government is investing $300,000 to deliver this event.

“We are building an even stronger events industry with investments like this, which will attract more than 580 interstate and international visitors who will each stay an average of 12 nights,” Minister Jaensch said.

“This is a significant delegation and covers off a broad range of competitions, with 17 sports across six days of competition in 16 venues.

“Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future we’re delivering strategic investments into global events to support local jobs.”
