MyHome helps 3000 Tasmanians into a home of their own

More than 3000 Tasmanians have been helped into owning a home as part of the Tasmanian Government’s successful MyHome shared equity program.

Minister for Housing and Planning, Kerry Vincent said our Government was supporting more Tasmanians into their own home.

“We are building an even better Tasmania through MyHome, with more than 3000 Tasmanians supported into home ownership since its inception four years ago,” Minister Vincent said.

“MyHome is helping Tasmanians turn the dream of home ownership into a reality.

“Having a home of your own is about much more than bricks and mortar. It’s about security, stability and having a place where you can build a future, raise a family and create lifelong memories.

“Each purchase made through MyHome represents a Tasmanian household given the opportunity to put down roots in a place they can truly call their own.

“Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we’re committed to making home ownership achievable for more Tasmanians, particularly at a time when entering the housing market can be challenging.

“More than 460 MyHome purchases have involved either newly built homes or house-and-land packages, which means the program is also increasing Tasmania’s housing supply.”

Eligible buyers need only a 2 per cent deposit and Homes Tasmania provides an equity contribution to help reduce the amount the buyer needs to borrow.

Bank of us CEO Paul Ranson said the milestone was a source of pride for the business, which is partner lender to the program.

“Helping more than 3000 Tasmanians into a home is a milestone we’re incredibly proud of,” Mr Ranson said.

“But what inspires us most are the individual stories behind that number – people and families who now have the security of a place to call their own.

“Every one of those stories is a reminder of why MyHome matters.”
