Multicultural small biz bolstered

The second round of Tasmanian Government's Multicultural Small Business Support Program has delivered training to help Tasmanians start and run a small business.

Parliamentary Secretary for Community and Multicultural Affairs, and Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business, Marcus Vermey, welcomed the milestone.

"These grants are terrific, and are making a difference exactly where we need them to," Mr Vermey said.

"I can see my own family's story in these recipients - new Australians having a go and building our wonderful home into something better.

"That's why I am particularly pleased to see this support delivered through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future.

"The work of the Multicultural Council of Tasmania in delivering this second round of grants is welcome, and has allowed us to get the word out further than ever before.

"This program has delivered personalised business development training, with some participants who successfully completed the program receiving a small business grant of up to $5,000.

"By helping culturally and linguistically diverse Tasmanians build business skills, access training and helping them get the head start they need for their business we're helping the entire state thrive."
