More community transport services for North West, West Coast

Eligible North West and West Coast residents needing to travel for healthcare will soon have more access to community transport options following new funding from the Tasmanian Government.

Community Transport Services Tasmania will receive $305,000 per annum for three years, totalling $915,000, to support the purchase of three vehicles, employment of drivers, and deliver approximately 12,000 additional subsidised trips in the North West and West Coast.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff said we are delivering the healthcare services regional Tasmanians need.

“We understand that for some people in the North West and West Coast, long distances and variable transport options can make attending healthcare appointments difficult,” the Premier said.

“We are building an even better health system for regional Tasmanians by investing in more vehicles, more reliable services, and additional trips for eligible North West and West Coasters.

“Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we’re ensuring everyone can access the right care, in the right place, at the right time.”

Funding was included in the 2026-27 Tasmanian Budget, delivering on a key commitment from the 2025 State Election.

Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Bridget Archer, said the funding would boost Community Transport Services Tasmania’s existing services.

“Community Transport Services Tasmania play a valued role, helping to connect Tasmanians with healthcare and other supports right across the State,” Minister Archer said.

“This investment will enable them to add three additional vehicles to their existing fleet, with all vehicles to be available by next month.

“The increased capacity will help meet regional demand and different passenger needs, supporting even more Tasmanians living in our most rural and regional communities to access the healthcare they need.”
