Inaugural Tasmanian Ministerial Multicultural Advisory Council appointed

Five culturally and linguistically diverse Tasmanians and two community organisations have been appointed to the inaugural Tasmanian Ministerial Multicultural Advisory Council.

Minister for Community and Multicultural Affairs, Roger Jaensch, said the establishment of the council is a key action in Embracing Diversity, Fostering Belonging: Tasmania’s Multicultural Action Plan 2025-2029.

“Tasmania is home to thousands of people from countries right across the world and their perspectives help make our State a stronger and more vibrant place,” Minister Jaensch said.

“The Council will contribute to the oversight and implementation of the multicultural action plan and be a reference point for Government on issues affecting culturally and linguistically diverse Tasmanians.

“I look forward to working with all Council members to support a multicultural Tasmania where everyone feels like they belong and can contribute, achieve and succeed.”

Members of the Council will provide advice to inform Tasmanian Government responses to issues and challenges experienced by culturally and linguistically diverse Tasmanians.

The Council will help ensure the voices and experiences of multicultural Tasmanians support a more inclusive, connected and welcoming Tasmania.
