An incredibly popular program helping older Tasmanians participate in sport and active recreation is back for another round.
Minister for Sport, Nick Duigan, said the next round of the Tasmanian Government’s successful Ticket to Wellbeing program will open in October.
“We are building an even better Tasmania by investing in cost-of-living initiatives like Ticket to Wellbeing, which is helping older Tasmanians stay active,” Minister Duigan said.
“Staying active and participating in sport supports health and wellbeing, reduces social isolation, and creates opportunities for older Tasmanians to remain connected to the community.
“We are delivering on our commitment to expand the Ticket to Wellbeing program and increase the total funding to $3.6 million for the next two years, demonstrating our support to deliver for healthy, active and connected communities.
“This year’s program will deliver three times the total number of vouchers from last year - with more than 15,000 vouchers available.
“The Ticket to Wellbeing program helps remove financial barriers to participation by contributing towards membership and registration costs, with a wide range of activities available through the program.”
Minister for Ageing, Bridget Archer said the program provides eligible Tasmanians aged 65 years and over with a $100 voucher to help reduce the cost of participating in sport and active recreation activities.
“Our Government is delivering cost of living initiatives that support older Tasmanians,” Minister Archer said.
"Regular participation in sport and active recreation delivers significant physical, mental and social benefits, particularly for older Tasmanians.
“Pleasingly, this program is delivering results by helping older Tasmanians get out, socialise and get moving by getting involved in active activities in their local communities.”
Ticket to Wellbeing is available to Tasmanian residents aged 65 years and over who are listed on a valid Services Australia Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card.
The program’s extension follows strong interest in the trial program, with a new application round opening at 9:00 am on Thursday 1 October 2026 until all available vouchers are issued.
