Helping tourism businesses power Tasmania’s EV future

The Tasmanian Government is supporting 24 businesses across the State to deliver more EV charging destinations.

The new Electric Vehicle Destination Charging Grant Program will provide 50 charging points at Tasmanian accommodation businesses, making it even easier for EV visitors to top up their cars.

Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events, Roger Jaensch, said the grants would help future-proof Tasmania’s tourism industry while delivering more convenience for EV drivers to explore every corner of the state.

“Backing our tourism industry is a key pillar of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future,” Minister Jaensch.

“The first round of the Electric Vehicle Destination Charging Grant Program has been incredibly popular, showing Tasmania’s appetite to keep expanding our EV offerings.

“We are building an even better tourism industry by supporting businesses in regional areas to install overnight destination chargers, ranging from the Bay of Fires Bush Retreat to Queenstown’s West Coaster Motel.

“Tasmania’s compact geography and excellent roads make it ideal for EV roads trips.

“This new infrastructure will allow overnight guests to plan for a rest and recharge each day before heading out on their next adventure.”

The second round of the grant program, offering a $125,000 funding pool, will be announced in early 2027.
