Have your say on the St Johns Park Health and Wellbeing Precinct Masterplan

Consultation is now open on the Tasmanian Government’s Draft Final Masterplan for the Royal Hobart Hospital Masterplan Stage 3: St Johns Park Health and Wellbeing Precinct in New Town.

Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Bridget Archer, said the feedback will help shape the Final Masterplan.

“St Johns Park represents a significant opportunity for Tasmania to create a health and wellbeing precinct that puts patients, families and the community at the centre of care,” Minister Archer said.

“Feedback from the community and stakeholders will guide the revitalisation of the historic 12-hectare site into a contemporary health and wellbeing precinct with expanded mental health, subacute, rehabilitation, aged care, and community-based services to meet future demand.

“Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we’re delivering more access to healthcare for Tasmanians, where they need it.”

The proposed development will establish the site as a second campus of the Royal Hobart Hospital, combining high quality clinical care with parklands, heritage, and community spaces.

The Draft Final Masterplan recognises the significant heritage of St Johns Park, weaving new, purpose-built facilities into avenues of historic trees, open green spaces, and reflection areas that promote wellness, recovery and community connection.

It balances modern, specialised care with the conservation and respectful acknowledgement of the site’s Aboriginal, social, and built heritage, and includes a proposed Heritage Interpretation Trail, interpretive signage, and an on-site Interpretation Centre.
