The new Parks Online Booking System is one step closer to being delivered as it enters the final testing phase.

The Tasmanian Government is investing $2 million as part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future to make it easier for locals and visitors to plan and manage their trip through a modern, mobile-friendly booking system.

Minister for Parks and Heritage, Nick Duigan, said stage one of the new system would launch with campground bookings in November 2026.

“From 3 November, visitors will be able to book a site at selected campgrounds across the state using the Parks Online Booking System,” Minister Duigan said.

“This includes sites at some of Tasmania’s most popular camping destinations: Narawntapu National Park, Freycinet National Park and Fortescue Bay, which already attract a booking fee.

“Many campgrounds across the state remain free to stay and do not require a booking. Only those campgrounds that currently attract a fee to stay are included in the first phase of the booking system.”

The new system will be introduced in stages, beginning with campground bookings and expanding over time to include other Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service products and experiences.

“Once fully implemented, the system will enable customers to book campsites, walking experiences, cave tours, parks passes and other products through a single online portal,” Minister Duigan said.

“This red-tape cutting platform will replace more than a dozen IT systems and manual processes, delivering a simpler customer experience and more efficient processes for staff.”

Further details on the future phases of the project will be released as planning progresses.

Delivered by US eDirect Australia Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Tyler Technologies Inc, the Parks Online Booking System is built on Recreation Dynamics, a cloud-based platform already used by government parks agencies to manage camping, tours, walking experiences and parks passes.
