Building a stronger workforce

The Tasmanian Government is supporting employers across the State to build the foundation skills their workforce requires.

Minister for Skills and Jobs, Felix Ellis, said four organisations have secured funding through the 26Ten Workplace Grants program, providing up to $65,000 for projects that improve literacy, numeracy and digital skills in their workplaces.

“Our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future is helping Tasmanians build the skills they need to succeed at work,” Minister Ellis said.

“We are building an even stronger workforce by delivering the literacy and numeracy skills needed to boost productivity while opening new pathways to training, qualifications and career opportunities.

“Francesca Accessories is providing workplace English language support for migrant women in its Hobart production team, helping them strengthen their communication skills and access broader employment and training opportunities.

“Incat Tasmania's Engineering Futures 26Ten Project is helping apprentices, labourers and trades assistants to strengthen the literacy and numeracy skills needed to complete trade qualifications and progress into higher-skilled roles.

“Work & Training is delivering tailored one-on-one literacy, numeracy and digital skills support to apprentices and trainees, helping improve training completion, workforce participation and employment outcomes.

“Loreto Community Housing is supporting apprentices, trainees and employees through literacy awareness training, plain English initiatives and targeted workplace support.”

Applications for a further round of 26Ten Workplace Grants are now open, with employers encouraged to apply.
