All aboard for our furry friends

The new Spirits of Tasmania are set to make travelling with your furry friends easier than ever before.

These next generation vessels include 45 secure kennels in a dedicated, climate-controlled pet area, 18 pet-friendly cabins and an outdoor pet-friendly deck.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff said this enhanced experience will be an attractive option for pet-loving passengers.

"Our furry friends are part of the family - and these days, many of us want them to join us on our holidays," Premier Rockliff said.

"The new Spirits have significantly upgraded amenity across the board.

"These new pet-friendly travel options are making it even easier to travel with your pet.

"By having these expanded offerings, we're enticing more people to Tasmania.

"Our new Spirits have the capacity to bring tens of thousands of extra passengers to our shores every single year.

"Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future we're continuing to back our visitor economy and deliver the infrastructure needed to keep it growing."

Tickets for the new pet cabins are on sale from September 16 at 10am
