The $15.1 million redevelopment of South George Town Primary School has taken an exciting step forward, with the construction tender released.
The redevelopment at South George Town Primary School will provide a new kitchen, flexible learning areas, library, music room and new outdoor learning and recreation spaces.
Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said our $188 million School Building Blitz is delivering major upgrades to schools across Tasmania.
"I want to thank the students, staff, and the broader community for their feedback on this exciting redevelopment,” Minister Palmer said.
“Through our Government’s 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we’re delivering upgrades at 15 schools across the State, including South George Town Primary School.
“Each of these upgrades are being shaped by the very people using them, ensuring we are delivering the best possible education facilities to help our learners grow and thrive.”
Liberal Member for Windermere, Nick Duigan, said this redevelopment will be a gamechanger for students and teachers at South George Town Primary School.
“This is more than just an investment in new buildings; it’s an investment in the future of our students.”
Subject to the outcome of the tender process, construction works are expected to commence early in 2027 and be completed in the second half of 2028.
