Kerry Vincent, Minister for Housing and Planning

The Tasmanian Government has submitted its application for Round 3 of the Australian Government’s Housing Affordability Future Fund (HAFF).

Tasmania is seeking funding for at least a further 582 homes through Round 3 to meet the minimum guaranteed funding allocation of 1,200 homes under HAFF.

Minister for Housing and Planning, Kerry Vincent, said the Tasmanian Government had taken action to ensure Tasmania’s HAFF Round 3 projects are investment ready and competitive.

“We have already engaged with our builders’ panels to develop concept plans and costs for the homes we're advocating for as part of our HAFF Round 3 submissions,” Minister Vincent said.

“This is a strong example of partnership and delivery in action.

"By engaging early with our building partners, we are strengthening our HAFF submissions, cutting the time it takes to move from concept to construction so we can get on with building homes for Tasmanians sooner.

“This approach positions us strongly to meet HAFF timeframes, reduces delivery risk and maintains a robust pipeline of shovel-ready projects – ensuring Tasmanians benefit sooner from new social and affordable housing.”

Projects funded through HAFF Round 3 submissions will deliver homes across the state – from small, single-unit sites through to multi-storey, medium density developments – providing certainty and continuity for builders and supporting local capability and capacity.

Tasmania has already achieved funding for 618 homes under the first two rounds.

Round 1 funding secured 469 homes to be delivered by Tier 1 community housing providers Loreto Community Housing and Housing Choices Tasmania.

Round 2 funding secured a further 149 new social and affordable rental homes that will be delivered by Homes Tasmania in partnership with community housing providers.

These homes will be a mix of one- and two-bedroom homes for smaller households as well as three- and four-bedroom homes suitable for larger families.

Homes Tasmania has 35 HAFF-funded homes already under construction.
All HAFF-funded homes must be completed by 30 June 2029.
