Michelle Campbell AM has been appointed as Tasmania’s new Defence Industry Advocate.
Ms Campbell, an active Reservist Major General in the Australian Army, brings extensive experience to the role, with 30 years of leadership across defence, government and consulting.
Minister for Business, Industry and Resources, Felix Ellis, said Ms Campbell is well positioned to promote Tasmania’s defence industry and strengthen its capability.
“The Defence Industry Advocate position is critical to growing and promoting Tasmania’s defence industry, with the role having directly contributed to a $600 million boost to the State’s economy over the past six years,” Minister Ellis said.
“Ms Campbell brings strong stakeholder relationships and significant real-world industry experience to the role, and I congratulate her on her appointment.
“I also thank Rear Admiral (Rtd) Steve Gilmore AM for his dedicated service to Tasmania as the State’s inaugural Defence Industry Advocate.
“Rear Admiral Gilmore demonstrated how the role can open doors to important contacts and relationships in the defence industry market, and I thank him for his valuable contributions.
“The Tasmanian Government is delivering for our defence manufacturers, with the Tasmanian Defence Industry Strategy 2029 helping industry secure market opportunities and enhance R&D and innovation.”
