Madeleine Ogilvie, Minister for Community and Multicultural Affairs
Ten multicultural organisations across Tasmania will share in $40,000 to assist in delivering festivals and events that promote their cultural traditions.
Minister for Community and Multicultural Affairs, Madeleine Ogilvie, said the Tasmanian Government had delivered the second round of the Multicultural Community Festivals Small Grants Program.
“Our local community festivals play a critical role in growing cultural exchange between different cultures and in fostering social cohesion,” Minister Ogilvie said.
“This grants program provides an opportunity for culturally and linguistically diverse communities to promote understanding, develop community bonds and ensure that everyone in Tasmania belongs.
“Tasmania is home to thousands of people from right across the world who chose our state to be their home.
“The funds will be used to assist with delivering festivals and events that will encourage our multicultural communities to share their cultural traditions and celebrate the diverse island we know Tasmania to be.”
