Kerry Vincent, Minister for Housing and Planning

The Tasmanian Government is working with key industry partners in efforts to deliver more homes sooner.

In partnership with the the Local Government Association of Tasmania, Planning Institute of Australia, and the Property Council of Australia, the Tasmanian Government is supporting the development of guidance and education materials.

Minister for Housing and Planning, Kerry Vincent, said that every effort to deliver more housing was vital.

"Legislation and construction are of course central to ensuring we have more houses, but industry support matters too," Minister Vincent said.

"We also need the tools to ensure all levels of government, industry and the community are all on the same page in addressing our housing challenges.

"These education materials, developed in close consultation with industry, are another lever to assist in delivering this goal.

"When developed these materials will provide better information on how to navigate our planning system, meaning a simpler process for Tasmanians to follow.

"Preventing unnecessary delays, educating the community and ensuring we're building more houses faster is something I am sure every Tasmanian can agree with.

"I look forward to seeing this project progress and the community benefitting from this work."

"Tasmania’s planning approvals system is the fastest in the country, but at time there can be unnecessary delays due to a lack of knowledge from applicants and the community about how our systems works.

"We believe this investment will go a long way to addressing this issue."
