Tasmania’s tourism industry has celebrated a standout night at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards in Fremantle overnight, bringing home 10 medals including two gold, one silver and seven bronze.

Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events, Jane Howlett, said the national awards set the benchmark for excellence across the tourism sector and congratulated Tasmania’s businesses and operators for their outstanding achievements.

“Tasmania’s tourism industry would not be as strong as it is without the hard work and dedication of our incredible businesses and operators,” Minister Howlett said.

“Congratulations to all of our finalists, and well done to the winners across 26 categories that showcase the diversity of experiences on offer for visitors to Tasmania.

“This year we’ve seen our amazing operators recognised across a wide range of categories, from tourist attractions and adventure tourism to restaurants, accommodation, wineries and distilleries, as well as festivals and events.
