Kerry Vincent, Liberal Member for Prosser

Tasmania’s surf life savers will put their skills to the test at this weekend’s 2026 Surf Life Saving Tasmania Open State Championships.

Liberal Member for Prosser, Minister Kerry Vincent, said our Liberal Government is delivering for Tasmania, supporting sport and active recreational opportunities like this right across the state.

“The state championships showcase the best of our surf lifesaving skills, while also highlighting the important role our surf life savers play in keeping beaches safe,” Minister Vincent said.

“Our Surf clubs have been part of the Tasmanian community for more than 100 years, providing an immense contribution as a sport, as an education provider, and as an emergency responder.

“A strong supporter of Surf Life Saving Tasmania, our Government is investing $1.35 million to the organisation so it can continue its critical work.

“I want to commend our Surf club volunteers who dedicated more than 22,000 hours of their time last year to patrolling our beaches and keeping the community safe in and around our waterways.

“I have no doubts countless lives have been saved thanks to your continued efforts.”

The 2026 Surf Life Saving Tasmania Open State Championships are being held on 14 and 15 March at Carlton Beach.
