Rowers from across the country have descended on Lake Barrington for the 2026 Australian Rowing Championships.

Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events, Jane Howlett, said the week-long event would deliver a significant boost to the State’s regional economy while showcasing Tasmania on a national stage.

“The Australian Rowing Championships is the pinnacle event on the national rowing calendar, and we are proud to once again welcome athletes, coaches and supporters to the Lake Barrington International Rowing Course,” Minister Howlett said.

“This year’s event brings together competitors ranging from school students through to elite and international athletes across a seven-day program.

“With world-class facilities, stunning natural surroundings and a strong community spirit, Lake Barrington provides the perfect backdrop for high-performance competition."

The Tasmanian Government has committed $1.3 million to support the delivery of the event.

“Our Government is delivering for Tasmania by securing major events like the Australian Rowing Championships,” Minister Howlett said.

The event runs from 23 to 29 March and includes the Australian Open Rowing Championships, Australian Open Schools Rowing Championships, and the prestigious King’s and Queen’s Cup Interstate Regatta.
