Jane Howlett, Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events
Dark MOFO will once again light up Tasmania this winter, with the 2026 festival program unveiled today.
Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events, Jane Howlett, said this year’s festival had something for everyone.
“Dark MOFO is an iconic Tasmanian event and a recognised world-class winter festival,” Minister Howlett said.
“This year’s festival will feature all the usual favourites, such as the Winter Feast, the Ogoh-Ogoh, Night Mass and the Nude Solstice Swim.
“It will also include a unique opportunity to view a series of artworks below deck on board Spirit of Tasmania V, which will be moored alongside the site of Dark Park.”
Minister Howlett said Dark MOFO delivers a strong return on investment to the State, significantly boosting the tourism and the hospitality sectors in the quieter winter months.
“We know the festival drives significant interstate and international visitation to Tasmania during our off-season,” Minister Howlett said.
“Following a one-year hiatus, the return of Dark MOFO in 2025 attracted over 50,000 interstate and overseas visitors to Tasmania. The festival recorded 120,000 unique attendees and delivered over $67 million in economic benefit to the State.
“That’s why the Tasmanian Government has secured this iconic event until 2027.
“Our Government is delivering for Tasmania by backing major events that showcase our State on the global stage, support local jobs and businesses, and keep our economy strong year-round.”
Dark MOFO 2026 will take place from 11 to 22 June.
Tickets go on sale to subscribers 10am Wednesday 1 April AEDT and everyone else from noon on Wednesday 1 April AEDT.
