Gavin Pearce, Minister for Primary Industries and Water

Tasmania’s world-renowned wine industry is continuing to thrive, with ongoing innovation and research solidifying Tasmania as a global leader.

The Tasmanian Cool Climate Wine Research Hub, established by the Tasmania Government, Wine Tasmania, and the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture, has played a key role in driving growth and sustainability across the industry.

Minister for Primary Industries and Water, Gavin Pearce, said our Government is delivering for Tasmanians and the industries that put us on the map.

“Tasmania’s world-renowned brand is a credit to the hard work and dedication seen across the industry,” Minister Pearce said.

“Our Cool Climate Research Hub is smashing goals, building strong international relationships and leading the way on cool-climate wine research.

“Since its inception in 2024, the Hub has joined a global consortium of leading organisations dedicated to collaboration, knowledge sharing, and joint research in viticulture and oenology.

“It’s these sorts of important relationships that have elevated Tasmania’s global position and strengthened the impact of our research – truly putting us front and centre on the world stage.

“The wine sector plays a key role in achieving our Government's AgriVision target of increasing the annual farmgate value of Tasmanian agriculture to $10 billion a year by 2050.”
