Gavin Pearce, Minister for Primary Industries and Water
The Tasmanian Government is continuing to work with our farmers, agribusiness and rural support organisations to develop a new long-term Agriculture Strategy, supporting growth, resilience and innovation across the sector.
Minister for Primary Industries and Water, Gavin Pearce, today met with peak industry representatives to discuss the new Strategy.
“We know that we need to work together to move our state forward, and I want to thank members for their engagement today,” Minister Pearce said.
“This Strategy will map out the future of agriculture in Tasmania, and I look forward to further engagement with industry on its development.
“Tasmanian agriculture has recorded sustained strong growth over the past 15 years to be worth nearly $2.5 billion at the farmgate in 2022-23.
“The new Agriculture Strategy continues our partnership with farmers and agribusiness to achieve our AgriVision 2050 target of a $10 billion annual farmgate value for agriculture by 2050.”
The roundtable was attended by:
- TasFarmers
- Tasmanian Agricultural Productivity Group
- Fruit Growers Tasmania

The new long-term strategy is expected to be released before the end of 2026.
