With the diggers in and lots selling, work to deliver more housing at Huntingfield is underway.

Of the 43 lots released to date in Stage One, 10 lots have settled, allowing construction to begin.

Further lots are being released across the site, with construction expected to begin shortly.

Minister for Housing and Planning, Kerry Vincent, said that it was positive to see work moving quickly at the site.

“Huntingfield is a prime example of where we need to deliver more medium-density houses,” Minister Vincent said.

“When completed, it will effectively be Tasmania’s newest suburb, offering a range of buyers the potential to get a roof over their head in this prime location.”

The first 33 lots were released in December 2025, followed by a second release of 10 lots this month. Participating builders have developed a range of thoughtfully designed home options tailored to the different lot types and buyers’ lifestyle needs – from first-home buyers to downsizers and growing families.

“I want to encourage Tasmanians who are considering building their own home here to check if they’re eligible to take advantage of our $20,000 First Home Owner Grant,” Minister Vincent said.

“It has been well canvassed that the site has experienced issues, but we can’t allow this to cloud the current circumstances. We are building more houses right here at a rate of knots.

“Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future we are committed to delivering more homes, faster.”
