Guy Barnett, Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs

The Tasmanian Government’s Small Business Growth Strategy 2026 is delivering real outcomes for businesses, including events and new tools to support.

Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Guy Barnett, said the review of the strategy’s implementation plan showed 123 of 140 activities are now complete or ongoing.

“An important part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future is to back our small businesses so they have the confidence to grow, invest and create jobs,” Minister Barnett said.

“This is a strategy delivering real results – not just a plan on paper.

“More than 130 Business Tasmania events have been delivered, which is three times the number delivered in the previous reporting period.

“These events advance key priorities of the strategy, particularly by fostering networking and collaboration opportunities for Tasmania’s small business community.

“The progress reflects our strong partnership approach, supported by the Tasmanian Small Business Council and the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.”

Other initiatives delivered include the refreshed Business Tasmania website which now includes improved functionality, and new tools such as a Grants and Funding Finder and the Tools and Support Finder.

Work on the new strategy is already underway, with feedback from the public consultation period being reviewed and a draft of the updated strategy to be released within the next 100 days.
