Kerry Vincent, Minister for Housing and Planning

The latest Homes Tasmania Dashboard shows, as at the end of May 2026, 4,929 households have been supported through housing programs since October 2020.

Minister for Housing and Planning, Kerry Vincent, said the results demonstrate the Government's commitment to increasing housing opportunities while delivering better outcomes for Tasmanians.

"We are taking action to increase housing supply and ensure more Tasmanians have access to safe, secure and affordable homes," Minister Vincent said.

"As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we are supporting more Tasmanian households into social housing, affordable rentals, home ownership or other housing assistance programs."

During May, former Department of Defence land at Warrane was rezoned to Inner Residential through a Housing Land Supply Order, paving the way for a proposed 75-home development in one of Hobart's established suburbs.

The development will deliver accessible, energy-efficient homes in a location close to public transport, schools, shops, employment opportunities and other essential services.

"This is exactly the type of smart development we want to see more of – building homes close to transport, schools, shops and employment opportunities so people can stay connected to their communities," Minister Vincent said.

"We want to see more homes delivered, faster."

Across Tasmania, 17 Housing Land Supply Orders have now been approved, unlocking land with the potential to deliver around 800 housing lots. A further three orders have been submitted with capacity for approximately 80 additional lots, while other sites are being assessed with potential for around 395 more lots.

The Dashboard is released monthly and can be found on the Homes Tasmania website.
