Kerry Vincent, Minister for Housing and Planning

The Tasmanian Government’s efforts to deliver 10,000 more social and affordable homes continues.

Our latest data shows nearly 5,000 homes and lots of land have been delivered towards that target.

Minister for Housing and Planning, Kerry Vincent, toured a 56-unit social and affordable housing development in Bridgewater today.

“ We continue to deliver new homes and provide support for Tasmanians right across the housing spectrum, from social housing to crisis accommodation to affordable home ownership through our MyHome Program,” Minister Vincent said.

“Over 2,200 social housing units and supported accommodation have been delivered, with 1300 more in the pipeline.

“119 more crisis units have been added and more than 1,100 households have been assisted into affordable rentals.

“In addition, our successful MyHome Program has seen more than 1200 Tasmanians realise the dream of home ownership.

“The latest dashboard also shows 149 affordable residential lots have been release, being the first important step to building a new home. If these lots were to be purchased by an eligible buyer, they also stand to benefit from our $20,000 First Home Owner Grant.

The 56-unit development in Bridgewater is on track to be completed in 2027, with Loretto Community Housing to manage the site.

“Onsite here today is a strong reminder of our efforts to deliver more housing across the state and support across the full spectrum of housing need,” Minister Vincent said.

“These homes will provide affordable accommodation for many Tasmanians, and I look forward to seeing it completed.”
