Tasmanians will be able to access $20,000 to build their own first home over 2026-27.

Since the Liberal Government was elected in March 2014, the Government has provided over 8,700 First Home Owner Grants to assist Tasmanians purchasing their first home.

Treasurer Eric Abetz said delivering more housing options is a key component of the 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future.

"Our First Home Owner Grant is good for Tasmanian first home owners and the construction sector," the Treasurer said.

"I am pleased to see this doubling of the First Home Owner Grant pass the Parliament.

"Eligible first home buyers building or purchasing a new home will be able to access the $20,000 grant, providing stronger support at a time when affordability remains a key challenge.

"Had this bill not passed the Parliament, Tasmanians would only be able to access $10,000 to build their first home over 2026-27. It is pleasing to see the Parliament affirm their support for this measure being doubled.

"We will continue to work hard to deliver what matters to Tasmanians."
