JackJumpers and Jewels High Performance Training Centre delivered

The new JackJumpers and Jewels High Performance Training Centre in Kingston has been delivered.

Minister for Sport, Nick Duigan, opened the $20 million purpose-built sporting facility on Thursday.

“This investment will support Tasmania’s NBL and WNBL teams for years to come,” Minister Duigan said.

“We have delivered what we said we would, marking a major milestone for basketball in Tasmania.

“As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we are delivering sporting infrastructure to inspire Tasmanians to stay active, and the High Performance Centre will support that.

“The facility showcases our ambition, our capability, and our commitment to supporting athletes and sporting pathways right here in our State.”

The centre has been delivered in partnership with the Tasmanian Government, Kingborough Council, the JackJumpers, the Jewels, and construction partners, Fairbrother and ARTAS Architects.

“The result is a high-quality training environment giving both teams every opportunity to perform at their best, attract top talent, and continue inspiring Tasmanians across the State,” Minister Duigan said.

“I thank everyone involved for their hard work, professionalism and commitment to delivering this outstanding facility.”

Tasmania Jewels Head Coach Claudia Brassard thanked the Government for the facility.

“It’s hands down the best facility in the country and that’s a major drawcard,” Brassard said.

“We couldn’t be more grateful for the Government’s investment.

“It’s already giving us a competitive edge before we’ve even hit the court. Players want to join the Jewels in part because of it, from Steph Reid, to Darcee Garbin and our imports.

“From the minute our athletes wake up, to the minute they go home, they have everything they need to enable them to be the best they can be.”

JackJumpers Coach Scott Roth said several players were already making good use of the facility as part of their NBL27 pre-season prep.

“The players are very happy,” Roth said.

“We have a facility that sets a new standard for the rest of Australia.

“We have everything and everyone under one roof, and that just reinforces the culture and standards that we live by.”

The centre includes courts, strength and conditioning spaces, recovery and treatment areas, team meeting rooms and integrated high performance amenities.

The JackJumpers and Jewels will make use of the facility ahead of the 2026/27 NBL and WNBL seasons.
