Claremont Park and Ride now open

The Tasmanian Government has delivered the new Claremont Park and Ride facility.

Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Kerry Vincent, said the new park and ride delivers better access to public transport and more options for Claremont residents travelling into Hobart’s CBD.

“Claremont’s new park and ride facility will make it easier for people to use public transport to get to the CBD,” Minister Vincent said.

“Park and rides are proving very popular as Tasmanians take advantage of our Government’s free bus travel initiative, which is delivering strong cost of living relief.

“The new Claremont park and ride has delivered 239 car spaces, including 6 disability accessible spaces, and 12 dedicated motorcycle spaces.

“For those who wheel, walk or ride, the facility also includes bicycle storage spaces and provides a direct connection to the intercity cycleway.

“An important part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future is to develop stronger communities and enhance our regions, and that’s exactly what park and rides deliver."

The new facility is another important milestone in the delivery of our Government’s Greater Hobart Park and Ride program.

“By building new park and ride facilities we are supporting the needs of Greater Hobart’s population growth and the expected increase in demand for public transport in the future,” Minister Vincent said.

“We have made significant progress under the Greater Hobart Park and Ride program, with new facilities now delivered in Midway Point, Claremont, Firthside and Huntingfield.

“Planning is underway for a new park and ride facility in Rokeby, with an update expected later this year.

“With each new facility we are providing more communities across Greater Hobart with additional travel choices and improved access to public transport.”
