Kerry Vincent, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport
There is no need to Learn To Fly, the Tasmanian Government and Metro Tasmania are helping concert-goers get home safely after the Foo Fighters with additional bus services on Saturday night.
Customers are encouraged to leave the car at home and take advantage of the additional suburban services that will operate in Launceston from 10.30pm to 12.30am.
This is similar to the Nightrider services Metro ran on New Year’s Eve.
Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Kerry Vincent, asked patrons to give bus drivers The Best of You this weekend.
"Launceston is set to be heaving this weekend - hotels are full, and pubs and restaurants will be roaring as the entire city gets ready to Rock and Roll," Minister Vincent said.
"We're backing in our events sector and ensuring you can enjoy the night without the worry of how you're getting there and safely home again."
Metro CEO Jess Paton said we are proud to support this event through the delivery of additional services that provide an option for people to get home safely.
“Metro is encouraging Foo Fighters fans to plan ahead and catch a Metro bus home from the city,” Ms Paton said.
25,000 people are expected to attend the concert on Saturday. Temporary road closures (Invermay Road between Forster Street and Lindsay Street) will be in place on the day of the concert from 12pm.
The Nightrider services will operate on routes 115, 140, 145 and 160. For more information click here.
