Jo Palmer, Minister for Education

More than 60 exceptional Tasmanian senior secondary students from across the state received TASC Outstanding Achievement Awards.

Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, recognised the 65 students at a ceremony at Government House today.

“I want to congratulate every one of our award recipients,” Minister Palmer said.

“What you’ve achieved is something to celebrate, and it reflects an enormous amount of hard work, dedication and resilience across both academic and vocational pathways.

“Each of these students has followed their own path and excelled in it, and that’s something to be genuinely proud of.”

Thirty students received the TASC Outstanding Achievement in VET Award, recognising students who demonstrated excellence in their VET programs in a range of fields, including construction, hospitality and agriculture.

Thirty-five students received the TASC Outstanding Academic Achievement Award, recognising the students who attained Tasmania’s highest academic results with an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 99.5 or above.

All 65 award recipients achieved the Tasmanian Certificate of Education, with the TCE able to be achieved through many and varied education and training pathways.

“Education has the power to open doors and change lives, and today is a wonderful example of that,” Minister Palmer said.

“The skills and knowledge these students have built during their senior secondary years will stay with them for life, benefiting not only them, but the families, workplaces and communities they’ll be part of.

“To all of our award recipients, congratulations. This is a moment to pause, take pride in how far you’ve come, and feel excited about what comes next.”
