Eric Abetz, Minister for Macquarie Point Urban Renewal
The Expression of Interest (EOI) for the finalisation of the design and construction of the Macquarie Point Multipurpose Stadium has opened.
Submissions can be made from today, 10 January until 11 February.
The EOI is intended to shortlist no more than two suitably qualified contractors to progress to the Request for Tender stage.
The Minister for Macquarie Point Urban Renewal, Eric Abetz, said this represents a significant milestone in advancing the delivery of the stadium project and ensuring a robust and competitive procurement process.
"The EOI seeks to attract contractors with demonstrated experience in the delivery of large scale, complex infrastructure projects, strong financial capacity, proven governance and risk management frameworks and a track record of delivering major construction projects safely, on time, and within budget," Minister Abetz said.
“Not only this, but it also marks a significant day for all Tasmanians - this signifies to the business community, to hoteliers, to builders, to tourism operators and more that now is the time to get ready.
“Inherent in this, and importantly, at every stage of this construction process, local benefits must be considered.
“For any work, Tasmanian social and economic factors will be considered with our local benefits test making up 30% of the formal assessment criteria.
“This is vital – this project will be distinctly Tasmanian and the cultural beating heart of our state – it is integral that Tasmanians are at the heart of building it.
“Following a shortlisting of two contractors through the EOI process, this will then be followed by a Request for Tender process.
“With EOI applications closing on 11 February, it is expected that this work to determine the successful applicant will be conducted over the year to come.
“We are working together to move our state forward, building landmark infrastructure for generations of Tasmanians to enjoy.”
