Jane Howlett, Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events

The events keep rolling on for Tasmania, with Launceston hosting the 2026 Australian Transplant Games.
Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events, Jane Howlett, said the Tasmanian Government was supporting the games to come to Tasmania for the first time in its 40-year history.
“It’s often said you can’t be what you can’t see, and this is the perfect example of that, with transplant participants set to compete in various athletic competitions from September 26 to October 3,” Minister Howlett said.
“Launceston will host hundreds of transplant recipients and their families and supporters who will demonstrate the success of transplant surgery as they celebrate a second chance at life.
“These Games are an opportunity for Tasmania to add to its reputation as an amazing place to visit, and to demonstrate we excel at events tourism.
“Events like these elevate our local tourism and hospitality businesses and boost our economy.
“We are proud to be supporting the event.
“I look forward to the competitors and their families being here in September and wish them all the best.”
Visitors to Tasmania inject $3.5 billion into our economy each year and the Tasmanian Government is supporting further growth of the sector.
“We are delivering for Tasmanians, working with the events sector and bringing more visitors to our island state,” Minister Howlett said.
