Jane Howlett, Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events
Tasmania’s premier tennis tournament returns this summer to Hobart’s Domain Tennis Centre.
Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events, Jane Howlett, said spectators could expect some high-quality tennis featuring some of the world’s best emerging and established talent in women’s tennis.
“The Hobart International is a huge drawcard showcasing elite women’s tennis talent and is just one example of Tasmanians flocking to support major sporting events in their state,” Minister Howlett said.
“These events provide Tasmanians with the opportunity to access live, elite sporting experiences – events that inspire young athletes and promote health and wellbeing across the community.
“The Tasmanian Government has been a long-time supporter of the Hobart International and is proud to provide Tennis Australia with $1.5 million in funding over five years to support the delivery of this event through to 2027.
“We are delivering for Tasmanians by supporting events that play a vital role in positioning Tasmania as a premier destination for major sporting events, and which drive interstate and international visitation.”
The Hobart International is the only all-women’s tennis tournament in Australia leading into the Australian Open. Past competitors include Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka and Australia’s own Ash Barty and Sam Stozur.
The Hobart International will run from 12 to 17 January 2026 at the Domain Tennis Centre. Tickets are available at www.tennis.com.au/hobart-international
