Applications open for Tasmanian Disability Inclusion Advisory Council

Tasmanians with disability and those connected to the disability community are being encouraged to apply for membership of the inaugural Tasmanian Disability Inclusion Advisory Council.

Minister for Disability Services, Jo Palmer, said expressions of interest are now open for council members and a Chairperson to help guide disability inclusion and access across Tasmania.

"The voices of the disability community shaped our nation-leading Disability Rights, Inclusion and Safeguarding Act 2024," Minister Palmer said.

"The establishment of the Council is a key initiative under the Act and is an exciting next step in ensuring a diverse range of voices are heard on key issues affecting Tasmanians with disability."

Members will be appointed based on recommendations from the Disability Commissioner.

Applicants may be Tasmanians with disability or Tasmanians connected to the disability community.

The Government is seeking members from across the state with experience of, or connection to, a broad range of disabilities.

Expressions of interest can be submitted in any format, including written, spoken or video, to suit individual communication needs. Applications close on 24 March 2026.
