Jeremy Rockliff, Premier
Tasmanians will gather in unity and remembrance for the victims of the Bondi Beach terrorist attack tomorrow.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff said the National Day of Mourning was a time to reflect on the horrific and tragic event of last month and honour all those affected.
“My thoughts are with the victims of the Bondi terrorist attack, as well as their families, loved ones and friends,” Premier Rockliff said.
“Tasmanians stand beside the people of New South Wales during this difficult time.
“We wrap our arms around our fellow Australians and affirm that light will triumph over darkness.”
As a mark of mourning and respect, and in solidarity with the Australian and New South Wales Governments, flags on Tasmanian Government buildings will be flown at half-mast on Thursday.
The Tasman Bridge in Hobart and the Town Hall in Launceston will join landmarks across Australia that will light up white on Thursday evening as Tasmania’s capital city and regional pillars of light.
Devonport’s paranaple centre and Launceston’s Civic Square and Riverbend Seaport Bridge will also be lit up in recognition of the National Day of Mourning.
One minute of silence to honour those impacted will be observed at 7.01pm.
Tasmanians can share condolence messages online through the Bondi Beach condolence book.
"We reflect and grieve in unity with our fellow Australians," the Premier said.
