Jane Howlett, Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events

The North Melbourne Football Club AFLW team will play four games in Tasmania as part of a new deal with the Tasmanian Government.
Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events, Jane Howlett, said the newly inked deal was a great opportunity for Tasmanians to see elite women’s sport in their home state.
“It is important that girls and young women in our state have the opportunity to see elite female athletes in action,” Minister Howlett said.
“Very soon we will have our Devils AFLW team to barrack for, but in the meantime North Melbourne’s AFLW team will take on that leadership role.
“Over the next two years, the North Melbourne Football Club will play two of their games in both the 2026 and 2027 seasons in Tasmania.
“We are proud to be investing in elite women’s sport.
“Those games will be broadcast into the lounge rooms of thousands of homes, providing even greater exposure of our Tasmanian brand across the country.
“In addition to the AFLW games, the North Melbourne Football Club will run sporting clinics with local clubs so young players can see elite sportswomen like the club’s Tassie-born players Nicole Bresnehan and Mia King.
“Our Government is delivering for Tasmania by keeping our economy strong and providing inspiration for the next generation of players.”
