Eric Abetz, Minister for Macquarie Point Urban Renewal
The Macquarie Point Multipurpose Stadium represents opportunity for the entire state.
Tasmanian businesses in construction, engineering, architecture, plumbing, electrical service and associated trades were briefed today on the upcoming work packages for the project.
Minister for Macquarie Point Urban Renewal, Eric Abetz, said the briefing was about ensuring local jobs are front and centre.
“Every corner of our local construction and building industry can reap the rewards of this generational project,” Minister Abetz said.
“We want local builders, tradies, apprentices and everyone in between to maximise the opportunities available.
“This is one of the biggest, most ambitious projects our state has ever undertaken, and Tasmanians will help get it done.”
A stadium design roadshow will take place later this month, with scheduled stops in Huonville, New Norfolk, Queenstown, Bicheno, Campbell Town, Launceston, Devonport and Burnie.
“There is extensive engagement going on at every level of the community to bring them along the journey,” Minister Abetz said.
“Our local tradies have been given the opportunity today to see exactly what work they’re soon to benefit from – and we want Tasmanians across the state to be informed too.
“This design roadshow will give people across the state an opportunity to look up close and understand for themselves the exciting progress already underway.”
