Football players and fans across the state are gearing up for another season of Tasmanian top-tier football.
Acting Minister for Sport, Gavin Pearce, said 10 teams across the National Premier Leagues Tasmania men’s competition and eight teams from Women’s Super League were set to compete in the 2026 Football Tasmania season.
“Tasmania has a long and proud footballing history and excitement is building ahead of what’s set to be another fantastic year of football in the state,” Minister Pearce said.
“The Tasmanian Government is a proud supporter of Football Tasmania and the critical work it does in making the sport accessible for young people around the state, and we continue to support numerous football-related projects through the Tasmanian Active Infrastructure Grants Program.
Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Engagement and Sport, Rob Fairs, said Tasmanians love to play and support football on all levels – whether it’s a social league or a top-tier competition such as the National Premier League and Women’s Super League.
“More than 42,000 people are participating in some form of football across Tasmania,” Mr Fairs said.
“I look forward to seeing who will take the men’s National Premier Leagues and Women’s Super League honours from the 2025 reigning Premiers South Hobart and Devonport Strikers this season.”
The men’s season will begin on Friday, 6 March 2026 and feature 18 rounds, followed by a finals series for the top five placed teams.
The Women’s Super League will have 21 rounds, beginning on Friday, 13 March 2026.
