Tenders are now open on for the next stage of South Arm Highway upgrades southeast of Hobart.
The upgrades are jointly funded by the Australian and Tasmanian governments as part of the Rokeby Road – South Arm Highway Upgrades project, with the Australian Government contributing $44 million and the Tasmanian Government contributing $11 million.
These upgrades will improve safety and connectivity for the many growing eastern shore communities travelling to and from the Hobart CBD.
The project involves installing traffic signals at the South Arm Road and Acton Road intersection to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and improve safety.
Pedestrian facilities will also be improved, making it easier to cross the road and connect with local services.
Construction on the junction upgrades is expected to start in December 2026.
Project tenders are accessible via the tenders.tas.gov.au website. Proponents are encouraged to review the documentation and submit a formal response for involvement in the next steps of the process.
