Making business easier in Tasmania

The House of Assembly has passed the Government's Taxation and Related Legislation (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill 2026 improving the taxpayer experience through reduced red tape.

The package of measures will have real impacts for Tasmanians. For example, the Bill includes a provision to increase flexibility in land tax payment options for more than 60,000 Tasmanian property owners.

Treasurer Eric Abetz said through the 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future we are working to deliver the best possible business conditions.

"Legislation is one of the Government's most powerful tools to deliver better conditions for Tasmanians and investors to do business," the Treasurer said.

"By doing this, we are fostering a competitive business environment that supports businesses to grow, invest and employ more Tasmanians.

"We have made this a priority, and as a result we have consistently been top of the pack when it comes to business conditions."

Released today, the latest NAB Business Survey complements this work, with Tasmania once again topping the charts.

"We recognise that having the right legislative settings in place ensures businesses are confident and have the conditions they need to succeed."
