Delivering more Outside School Hours Care

The Tasmanian Government is delivering expanded access to before and after school care for families, with two additional schools announced as part of the $10 million investment.

Under the Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) capital upgrades program, Scottsdale Primary School and Dodges Ferry Primary School have been selected to undergo works to increase available places.

This is in addition to upgrades already announced for Howrah Primary School, Beaconsfield Primary School and Forth Primary School.

Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said our Government is delivering on our commitment to working families by increasing access to before and after school care across the State.

“For many families, reliable before and after school care is essential to balancing work and caring responsibilities,” Minister Palmer said.

“Across the five schools announced under the OSHC program, we’re providing 115 additional places for our kids to thrive in a safe, supportive learning environment beyond the school day.

“This investment will make a real difference for working families, particularly in areas where access to care has been limited or demand continues to grow.

“Through our Government’s 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we’re ensuring Tasmania continues to be the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”

Capital works across the five schools will commence across the 2027 and 2028 school years.
