More than 4,000 runners will converge on Northern Tasmania for the 2026 Launceston Running Festival, with a new finish line set to elevate the race-day experience for both athletes and spectators.

Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Engagement and Sport, Rob Fairs, said the finish line will move to a scenic waterfront location on Kings Wharf Road, alongside the Tamar River and the Peppers Silo Hotel.

“This is a fantastic step forward for an already world-renowned event,” Mr Fairs said.

“The new waterfront finish line will not only create an unforgettable moment for runners as they cross the line, but also provide a vibrant, accessible space for spectators to cheer them on.

“Events like the Launceston Running Festival play a crucial role in driving visitation, particularly during the shoulder season.

“Our Government is delivering for Tasmanians, with thousands of participants and supporters expected in Launceston across the weekend, backing local businesses, dining in our restaurants, and exploring the region’s natural attractions.”

The Tasmanian Government is investing $250,000 to support the delivery of the event.

The Launceston Running Festival will take place on Sunday, 31 May 2026 starting and finishing at Kings Wharf Road alongside the Tamar River and the Peppers Silos hotel.
