The Tasmanian Government is cutting red tape and cost on building a new home as part of its plan to freeze changes to the National Construction Code.
The Building Amendment Bill 2026 provides certainty for the building and construction industry, and cuts red tape for Tasmanians building a home.
However, the Winter-Willie opposition want to block the Government’s plan to make it easier and cheaper for families to build homes.
The freeze is backed by the building and construction industry, and is critical to provide certainty for builders and families.
The Winter-Willie opposition needs to tell Tasmanians why Labor is driving up the cost of building a new home.
Even the Federal Government has now acknowledged constant construction code changes adds cost and complexity to building.
Our Government is delivering for Tasmania, ensuring our construction industry can continue to build the State’s future, Labor is blocking it.
