Infrastructure upgrades to ensure another of Tasmania’s fantastic national parks is more accessible to all, are about to begin.
Works at Tasmans Arch and Devils Kitchen in the Tasman National Park are scheduled to commence on April 15.
Acting Minister for Parks, Madeleine Ogilvie, said Tasmanian company, AJR Construct Pty Ltd will deliver the infrastructure improvements.
“The Tasmanian Government is investing $1.65 million in the Tasman Peninsula for upgrades and minor changes to walking tracks and platforms at the popular coastal site,” Minister Ogilvie said.
“These upgrades will deliver infrastructure improvements that enable greater all-abilities access to the Tasmans Arch and Devils Kitchen sites.
“This project follows on from Stage 1 of the Tasman Gateway Project, completed in 2022, which included a new public toilet facility, upgraded car park, and a dedicated bus layby area.”
Upgrades to improve accessibility have already occurred at Goblin Forest, the Stanley Nut Reserve and at Ferndene. These accessibility upgrades follow on from works completed to the Dove Lake boardwalk in December 2023.
Minister for Disability Services, Jo Palmer, said improving access to Tasmania’s natural attractions is an important way to ensure our state is more inclusive.
“Projects like this help remove barriers so more locals and visitors with disability can enjoy some of our most iconic places,” Minister Palmer said.
“These improvements are about making sure our parks are welcoming and accessible for everyone who wants to experience them.”
AJR Construct Pty Ltd will deliver these upgrades, with about 25 Tasmanian jobs supported, and another 12 Tasmanian businesses have been sub-contracted for components of the works.
Tasmans Arch and Devils Kitchen will be closed to visitors during construction from 15 April 2026 to 31 July 2026.
Access to the Waterfall Bay Track from Devils Kitchen will also be closed during construction. Entry will remain open from Waterfall Bay Road.
