Tasmania’s export sector continues to demonstrate remarkable resilience and growth, with the most recent data from the 2023–24 Trade Scorecard highlighting the state’s strong trade performance.

The combined value of goods and services exported from Tasmania in 2023–24 reached $6.16 billion, the second-highest total ever recorded for the state in a financial year.

This represents a 5.2 per cent increase over the previous year.

Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Guy Barnett, today launched two initiatives to help this vital sector continue to grow - the 2023–24 Trade Scorecard and a new Economic Dashboard.

“Tasmania’s exporters are leading the way, showing that quality, sustainability and innovation are in high demand around the world,” Minister Barnett said.

“The Trade Scorecard highlights the strength, resilience and innovation of Tasmanian businesses and the results we can achieve by working in partnership with industry under our current Trade Strategy.

“To further support exporters, we are also launching a new Economic Dashboard, which provides real-time data and insights to help businesses make smarter, evidence-based decisions.”

“Importantly, we are keeping our foot on the pedal when it comes to growing exports.

“We are consulting with industry through regional roundtables, forums, and surveys to ensure the new Trade Strategy 2030 builds on our success and keeps Tasmania moving forward on the global stage.”
