Tasmania has been named one of the world’s top travel destinations for 2026 by the international Signature Travel Network.
The reputable ‘Where to Go in 2026’ list recognises places at the forefront of global travel, as determined by Signature Travel’s extensive network of luxury travel agents and industry advisors in the United States and globally.
Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events, Jane Howlett, said being recognised as one of the top travel destinations in the world by industry experts is an incredible achievement for Tasmania.
“Signature Travel network is one of the most trusted voices in luxury travel and we are extremely proud to be the only Australian destination on the list,” Minister Howlett said.
“One in six Tasmanians work in the tourism and hospitality industry, and we are working together to deliver for Tasmanians and move our State forward.
“Attracting international travellers is an important part of supporting our tourism industry and delivering for Tasmania.
“We’ve seen 249,600 international visitors come to Tasmania over the past year – up 6 per cent - and they have contributed a record spend of $613.5 million while in the State.
“With many high-value international travellers seeking destinations that are authentic and unique, Tasmania certainly delivers on that promise through our stunning natural beauty, world-class food and produce, and quality tourism experiences."
Sarah Kingston Clark, CEO, Tourism Tasmania, said the list is a welcomed recognition for Tasmania.
“The ‘Where to Go in 2026’ list is a trusted source that will inspire many global luxury travel agents to recommend Tasmania to their high-value clients,” Ms Kingston Clark said.
“The inclusion of Tasmania in this list demonstrates the importance of building strong relationships with international travel and trade partners, ensuring they understand and feel connected to our island and our tourism offerings.
“Tasmania is the perfect destination for international travellers to escape the beaten path, slow down and reconnect with themselves and with nature – with plenty of options to embrace luxury and comfort as well.”
Signature Travel Network’s “Where to Go” list is curated annually and highlights standout destinations that deliver compelling, immersive, and meaningful travel experiences.
The ‘Where to Go in 2026’ list is the latest in a string of global travel recognition for Tasmania, with the Association of British Travel Agents naming Tasmania as a ‘Destinations to Watch in 2025’, Launceston and the Tamar Valley making Lonely Planet’s top 10 regions for 2025 and New York Times naming Tasmania as one of the ‘Best places to go in 2024’.
