Guy Barnett, Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs
Lightning Protection International (LPI) has been named the 2025 Tasmanian Exporter of the Year at the 31st Tasmanian Export Awards held in Hobart tonight.
Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Guy Barnett, said tonight’s awards were an important opportunity to showcase and celebrate the outstanding exporting capabilities of Tasmanian businesses.
“We know that our export sector is thriving with goods and service exports reaching $6.16 billion for 2023-24,” Minister Barnett said.
“The awards showcase the impressive breadth of exporting capabilities in Tasmania, recognising industries across multiple sectors including the creative arts, technology, advanced manufacturing and food and beverages."
LPI began in 2002 with a mission to design and manufacture world-class lightning protection, surge protection, and earthing systems.
More than two decades later, the company has grown into a globally respected name, exporting to over 100 countries and safeguarding critical infrastructure from lightning.
It’s the commitment to scientific and technological innovation and quality of LPI, that has helped to set them apart on the global stage.
Minister Barnett said the winners of the 11 national categories at the Tasmanian Export Awards would go on to represent Tasmania in November at the national Export Awards in Canberra.
“This year’s awards attracted 56 submissions across 11 categories, showcasing the strength and diversity of our export sector,” Minister Barnett said.
“The Tasmanian Export Awards are a celebration of the outstanding contribution our exporters make to the state’s economy and international reputation.
“We want to work together to move our state forward and encourage even more Tasmanian businesses to export, nationally and internationally.
“Helping more Tasmanian companies to export and share our high-quality products and services with the rest of the world will strengthen our economy and create more job opportunities for Tasmanians."
