Kerry Vincent, Minister for Housing and Planning
The Tasmanian Government will triple the First Home Owner Grant to $30,000 for newly built homes and extend the payroll tax exemption for apprentices as one of our first priorities.
This will be achieved through the Taxation and Related Legislation Bill.
Minister for Housing and Planning, Kerry Vincent, said that should we remain in Government after Tuesday, we are ready to get on with the job for Tasmania.
"Our Government is backing in jobs and addressing housing supply," Minister Vincent said.
"We will triple the First Home Owner Grant to $30,000 for newly built homes.
"This move will help more Tasmanians into their first home and provide more work for our construction industry.
"This bill will also get more Tasmanians on the tools by extending the payroll tax rebate for apprentices.
"We are supporting more Tasmanians into homes and delivering on our $30 billion infrastructure pipeline.
"Our stamping out stamp duty initiative has supported thousands of Tasmanians into their first home, and the tripling of the First Home Owner Grant will build on this success.
"While we aren't taking anything for granted, we know Parliament is ready to get back to work.
"Tasmanians need us to get back to work for certainty and stability."
